My first try...

As an instructional designer at the University of Central Florida, I am always interested in learning more about technology.
  • What's new?
  • What's been evolving?
  • How can I use new technologies in my personal life?
  • And even better, how can I demystify these technologies so that faculty will try using them?

In March 2005, I attended the NLII Spring Focus Session on Emerging Practices and Learning Technologies in Houston, TX. Because of my experiences during the two day session, I now have a multitude of new software downloaded to my computer. On a daily basis, I am working with ipodder, itunes, RSS feeds, news aggregators, blogs, wikis. I find myself suggesting the use of such tools as solutions to problems in the office. These words are becoming my everyday language.

Of course, as with most technologies, as I feel comfortable using one thing, 10 more have emerged. It's an ever changing landscape - one that I must tend to daily if I ever hope to stay up-to-date.

So in a long winded 'hello', I begin my very own blog. I hope to not only record my thoughts but hopefully find a few people who are also interested in learning and sharing.

Welcome,
Devon
